Update

The Israeli demolition bulldozers did not arrive in the village these last 2 days and so the houses are still standing.  While this is a relief, the villagers remain anxious that demolitions are pending and know that it could happen at any moment.  It remains a difficult time for them.

Peace, Salaam, Shalom,

Jan

    • Yes,Faye, that’s it in a nutshell. The villagers have deeds to the land but the Israelis clearly want it. They require the Palestinians to secure a building permit prior to commencing any building, but then do not issue permits to Palestinians. People build anyways because what else can you do, and then the Israelis come along and demolish. It seems that the intent is to make life so miserable for them that they will eventually leave.

  1. Dear Jan,
Thanks so much for keeping us posted… My heart is with this young family and all who live with this very difficult ambiguity and lack of control regarding how their livelihoods… Standing in solidarity and hope,
    Sherry Ann
